Abstract. Delforge, P., Devillers-Terschuren, J. & Devillers, P.- The Lucanian Ophrys, Ophrys lucana, a new species of the group of Ophrys obaesa [Natural. belges 81 (Orchid. 13) (2000): 257-268 + 2 figs]. A large-flowered orchid of the Ophrys fusca s.l. group flowers abundantly on the plateaux of Basilicata in May. It was first recorded in 1985, and studied anew in 2000. It is formally described as Ophrys lucana. Its relationships are discussed. It is suggested that it may be a member of the O. obaesa group, rather than of the O. funerea group, as previously suggested. A degradation of the stations between 1985 and 2000 is documented.
